The Pipe Grooving Machine is a portable split-frame machining system designed to produce accurate annular grooves on pipe ends for retaining ring flange applications. The machine securely clamps onto the pipe OD and machines a precision groove that accommodates the retaining ring, preventing flange movement and creating a reliable non-welded piping connection.
Developed for workshop and on-site operation, the machine combines portability, accuracy, and ease of use, making it ideal for offshore, marine, industrial, and hydraulic piping systems where welding is undesirable or impractical.
The grooving process involves machining a circumferential groove near the end of the pipe using a precision cutting tool. The groove is produced to exact dimensional requirements, allowing a retaining ring to be installed behind the flange. Once assembled, the retaining ring mechanically retains the flange and prevents it from slipping off the pipe during service.
Unlike welded flange systems, the grooving process does not introduce heat into the pipe material, preserving the original metallurgical properties and reducing fabrication time
